Salary Range: $11.70 - $15.43  
We anticipate hiring between the minimum and first quartile of the range, depending upon previous similar experience. Existing JH employees may be eligible for above the first quartile but not above the top range.

Job Summary
Serve as receptionist for Section 8 department, assist clients, and take appropriate action in accordance with established procedures and HUD regulations.

Essential Functions
Enter information into the computer and filing documents. Receive information from residents, verify and process interim payment changes based on the verified information in accordance with established procedures and regulations. Obtain and verify family income and membership changes, including obtaining required proof of income, documentation, citizenship verifications, etc. Generate letters, contract amendments, and conducting interviews with clients may be required. Conduct re-examination reviews regarding program eligibility and take appropriate action in accordance with established procedures and HUD regulations.

Work Environment
Must be able to sit in an office environment, walk upstairs to meet with clientele, able to lift-up to 25 lbs.

General Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Answer telephone calls and either answer inquiries personally or transfer calls to appropriate person
  2. Greet persons who come to the office and assist them by answering questions, giving application form, helping them complete forms, or directing them to others who can deal with the person's concern
  3. Receive mail and distribute to appropriate individuals, and process outgoing mail in accordance with established procedure
  4. Make copy of identification and other forms provided for application file
  5. Provide applicants with address change forms, disability forms, criminal background forms, etc.
  6. Obtain income and other required verification
  7. File applications in accordance with established procedures
  8. Input and update information in computer, as needed

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or G.E.D. Certification plus one year of experience in data entry and general clerical work which included using computers and maintaining files, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other: Must be insurable by JHA's insurance and possess a valid Florida Driver's License.
