JOB DESCRIPITION


Job Summary

Provide a wide range of clerical functions to support the S8 Housing Assistance Division. Route all phone calls received to the appropriate parties within the agency. Respond to all questions asked in person and on the telephone. Gives continued assistance to all clientele, which included but not limited to data entry, explaining, and received documentation, issuing receipts, copying papers, preparing folders for the other programs under Section 8 and responding to landlord inquiries about the program.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

Greets visitors to the Housing Authority's main office, answers incoming telephone calls, and provides information and assistance.

•   Answer telephone calls and either answer inquiries personally or transfer calls to the appropriate person 

•   Greet persons who come to the JHA office and either assist them personally by answering questions, helping them complete forms, or directing them to others who can deal with a person's concern

•   Provide general information and assistance to the public

•  Performs clerical duties such as completing and filing records and forms

•  Heavy Microsoft Office knowledge experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Education and Experience

High school graduation or GED plus 2 years of experience involving dealing with the public and using a computer or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in Section 8 preferred. Bilingual Preferred-But not necessary.

Two years of general clerical work which included using computers and maintaining files, or and equivalent education, training, and experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the operation of computers and software.
  • Knowledge of the public agencies that provide assistance and services to residents, including some knowledge of eligibility requirements.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to draft business communications.
  • Ability to generate records, receipts, and reports efficiently using a calculator and computer software.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, superiors, residents, community service agencies, and the public.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and multiple demands to accomplish tasks in accordance with established requirements.
  • Skilled in analyzing situations to identify problems and possible solutions.
  • Skilled in communicating with all types of people in a wid variety of situations.

We anticipate hiring at the minimum of the respective pay grade per contractual obligations.
